Vancouver Whitecaps v Philadelphia Union – The Story In Pictures

We’ve been waiting for the Whitecaps to get into a scoring groove and give someone a hammering. Three goals against Philadelphia wasn’t quite that, but it was close. It was a dominant performance that was three goals going on five, six or more.

David Ousted came up with the game changing moment with a fantastic point blank save in the 26th minute that gave Vancouver the kick up the ass they needed. Goals from Pedro Morales and Octavio Rivero sent them on their way by half time. They could have added a few more in the second half but had to settle for just Darren Mattocks late strike.

Still, 3-0 and back on top of the standings isn’t a bad way to finish the weekend.

AFTN photographer Tom Ewasiuk was there to capture all the action before, during and after the game and here’s his “Story In Pictures”, with a full Flickr slideshow at the end.
