VISL Round-up: Vic West, Cowichan, and Gorge remain unbeaten after Week 2 action

The top three remain unchanged after the second week of action in Division 1 of the Vancouver Island Soccer League (VISL).

Goals from Matteo Ventura, Sean Pearse, Bryan Taylor, Evan Douglas Gray kept Vic West FC in top spot, following another comfortable win, this time a 4-1 home victory over Lakehill FC.

That win keeps Vic West just ahead of Cowichan FC on goal difference, after the Duncan based came away with a 2-0 away win at Nanaimo United. Patrick Nelson and Craig Gorman got the goals.

Nelson’s goal was his fourth of the season, and he shares the lead for the Golden Boot with Vic West’s Ventura.

Gorge FC are the only other unbeaten side in the division following their 3-1 win at Bays United Liquor Plus. Colin McDonald, an own goal, and Aaron Murphy gave Gorge the points.

In the weekend’s other results, Vancouver Island Wave won 2-0 at Comox Valley United, thanks to an opener from veteran Victoria Highlander Blair Sturrock, and Westcastle United won 2-1 at Vantreights FC, who are still searching for their first point of the season.

Those results leave the VISL Division 1 table looking as follows after week two:
