Vancouver Whitecaps v San Jose Earthquakes – The Making It Difficult For Themselves Story In Pictures
Vancouver Whitecaps are like an old pisshead. Seldom do they wake up on a Sunday morning with a clean sheet.
It looked like they were going to buck that trend this weekend. For 90 minutes the Whitecaps defence held firm, albeit against very little real San Jose pressure. The dry spell looked on. But then the old demons came back, horrible defending saw the Quakes pull within one from nowhere. Moments later, a last ditch block by Kendall Waston saved two points, and likely the ‘Caps season. For now.
Thankfully a first half Alphonso Davies goal and a long ranger from Nicolas Mequida in the second half had the ‘Caps well on their way by that stage, and the three much needed points stayed in Vancouver.
AFTN photographer Tom Ewasiuk (@ResidualImage) was there to capture the action before, during and after the game. Here’s his “Story In Pictures”, with a full Flickr slideshow at the end.
