Canada got their 2025 Gold Cup campaign off and running in some style at Vancouver’s BC Place on Tuesday evening with a 6-0 shellacking of Honduras in their opening group game.
Burnaby boy Niko Sigur started the rout off in the 27th minute with his first goal for the national team, with Tani Oluwaseyi doubling Canada’s lead two minutes into first half stoppage time.
Tajon Buchanan struck twice in the second half in the 48th and 65th minutes to put Canada four up, before Promise David saw Canada go nap with 15 minutes to go. Nathan Saliba put the cherry on top in the last minute to make it six, as Canada fully lived up to their tournament favourites tag.
