Episode 273 – The AFTN Soccer Show (Moving On Up with guest Alan Koch)

Sunday’s AFTN Soccer Show on CiTR radio was so packed, we’re having to release it over two parts! Part one of the three hour show is today and focuses on MLS – present and future.

We look back at Vancouver Whitecaps’ 2-1 win over Colorado Rapids on Friday night, analysing the performance, which players stood out, and some of the other talking points coming out of the game. We also hear from both head coaches, the Rapids’ Anthony Hudson and the Whitecaps’ Carl Robinson.

We take a look at how the action played out in the MLS Western Conference this week, and how it affected the Whitecaps, plus chat about the big league news of the week – the addition of FC Cincinnati in 2019.

We round off the show with an in-depth chat with Cincy head coach, and friend of the show, Alan Koch about the expansion, his busy to do list, how he’ll go about balancing building his squad with trying to win a USL championship for the rest of the year, and lots more.

Part two of Sunday’s show will be out as a podcast on Wednesday morning where we’ll talk Canadian Premier League in BC and Alberta, the PDL, bring you interviews with Will Cromack and Tommy Wheeldon Jr, and more. Check back in two days for that.
