Episode 485 – The AFTN Soccer Show (Moving On To Something Better)
The latest AFTN Soccer Show is out for another packed show of Vancouver Whitecaps, MLS, and Canadian football chat.
The 2021 MLS regular season is in the history books and after many twists and turns and ups and downs, the Whitecaps are in the postseason for the first time since 2017. We pick over the bones of their playoff clinching 1-1 draw at home to Seattle, hear from head coach Vanni Sartini, look around the rest of the action on Decision Day as the afternoon timeline played out, and set up the playoffs to come.
But while it’s great news on the pitch for the ‘Caps, the sexual misconduct scandal is still looming large off it. We look at the latest developments as MLS name the investigators appointed, and we chat with Lindsay Ingham, a Californian lawyer who specializes in such investigations, for an insight into how they proceed and more.
Our feature interview this episode is with Colin Elmes and Will Cromack of TSS Rovers as we chat about the club joining League 1 BC, the importance of the league to game’s development here, and their plans for fan ownership.
All of this, plus we chat about the plans for the 2022 MLS season, the CPL playoff battle, Crazy and the Brains continue their stint as Artists of the Month, and Tulsa band The Shame feature in this episode’s Wavelength.
