Episode 572 – The AFTN Soccer Show (Heroes Fall and Passion Follows with Patrice Gheisar, Rob Friend, and Alejandro Diaz)
We’re back with another packed show of Vancouver Whitecaps, Major League Soccer, Vancouver FC, and Canadian Premier League chat.
The Whitecaps won two big MLS matches this past week, seeing off Austin and the LA Galaxy, although they certainly didn’t make it easy for themselves. We look back at the two games, the highlights and low points, where it leaves the ‘Caps in the standings heading into the Leagues Cup break, and oh, there’s some kid called Messi that’s joined the league.
Turning our attention to the CPL, Vancouver FC lost in Ottawa to stay bottom of the standings but they added two big signings for the second half of the season to help with their playoff push. We hear from one of them, reigning CPL Golden Boot winner Alejandro Diaz, along with club owner Rob Friend.
Our feature interview this episode is with HFX Wanderers head coach Patrice Gheisar, as we chat about him taking over in Halifax, transition from League1 and the college game, giving Canadian coaches a chance, and more.
