We’re back with another AFTN Soccer Show packed full of Vancouver Whitecaps, Major League Soccer, and Canadian Premier League chat after an emotional, draining, and anger-inducing week in Whitecapsland.
The feelgood factor from just a week ago went quickly missing in Vancouver as news broke, and continued to break as the week wore on, that a group had put a bid in for the Whitecaps with the aim of moving the team to Las Vegas. It was a fast-moving news cycle with both a lot and a little said by both sides and very few glimmers of hope for the ‘Caps faithful it felt at times. So how did we get here? What do we know, what do we not, what’s next, and how you can help? We delve into all of that, the main bullet points from the week, and hear from Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim. It may feel grim, but there is some light at the end of the long, dark tunnel.
On the pitch, the Whitecaps dominated the LA Galaxy for much of their match on Saturday, but struggled to break down the home side’s lines before recovering from a defensive mishap to salvage a vital road point. We pick over the main talking points coming out of that one and we round up the weekend action across MLS and the CPL.
