Tonight’s AFTN Soccer Show part of CiTR Radio’s annual Fundrive – join in and help Vancouver independent radio
Tonight’s AFTN Soccer Show on CiTR radio (10pm till midnight this week on 101.9 FM and CiTR.ca online) will be a little bit different from our others over the course of the year, as it falls during the station’s annual Fundrive event.
We’ll still be bringing you our usual Vancouver Whitecaps, Major League Soccer, and Canadian Premier League chat, along with a very apt song in Wavelength to mark the MDS era at the ‘Caps, but interspersed throughout the show we’ll be promoting this year’s CiTR fundraising drive, part of which will allow you to be part of tonight’s show!
CiTR 101.9 FM launched their annual Fundrive on Thursday with an aim to raise $40,000 in donations. The theme for this year is Ruby Jubilee, chosen to celebrate the station’s 80th year serving the community (2 x 40 years – appropriate in the year the Whitecaps’ 40th anniversary of winning the NASL Soccer Bowl).
The events slogan, Making Milestones represents how far the station has come, and the goals still left to achieve in order to propel the station in today’s media landscape.
Fundrive proceeds go directly towards the research and development needed to create future milestones. They’ll go towards operating expenses, equipment purchases, studio upgrades, new programs, and support for community projects and events.
It will also be used towards the research needed to increase its signal and expand digital platforms in order to further amplify the underrepresented voices that the station serves.
Until midnight on March 7th, CiTR DJs will be asking listeners to call in and donate at 604-822-8648 (UBC-UNIT) or transfer funds digitally by donating HERE.
You can donate any amount you want and all $30+ donors will receive Fundrive swag designed by local artists, including patches, mixtapes, socks, and bags. If you’re donating online, please select The AFTN Soccer Show from the dropdown selection in the “My gift was inspired by” field.
So tune in to CiTR radio tonight at 10pm (101.9 FM on your dial and online at CiTR.ca). And whether you choose to donate during the show or online, thank you for supporting Vancouver independent radio and AFTN’s part on that.
