WFC2 v Portland Timbers 2 – The Post Playoff Clinching Hangover Story In Pictures
WFC2 are falling down the standings fast. Another loss on Sunday saw the young ‘Caps fall to sixth. They may have already secured their playoff place, which is actually just as well, but they’re making hard work of the run-in and risk facing an extremely tough route away from home come the postseason.
The latest loss came to Portland Timbers 2 at Thunderbird Stadium on Sunday. This was a team that the ‘Caps had already beaten three times this season, but it was a different story this time around as two first half goals gave the Timbers a 2-0 win, keeping their own playoff hopes alive in the process.
AFTN photographer Tom Ewasiuk was there to capture all the action before, during and after the game and here’s our “Story In Pictures”, with a full Flickr slideshow at the end.

Boooooooooo!
Then more defensive calamity three minutes before half time
And Villyan Bijev capitalises fully on the ‘Caps defensive misunderstandings
Nothing gets the crowd on their feet like t-shirts being shot out of a gun
Let the bodies hit the floor
The Whitecaps home playoff hopes have been airlifted away
Marco Carducci comes up with a late save to keep it at 2-0
And Kyle Greig is thwarted late on by a strong save. No consolation here.
