The latest AFTN Soccer Show is out for another packed show of Vancouver Whitecaps and Canadian national team chat.
This episode is firmly focused on the Canadian men’s national teams, but with an Whitecaps theme as well. Both Canada’s senior and U23 sides are in qualification action this week during a very busy week on the international stage. As the senior team kick off their World Cup qualifiers, the U23s are trying to find themselves on the Road to Tokyo in the CONCACAF Olympic qualifiers, and we’ve got it all covered.
Canada announced their squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Bermuda and the Cayman Islands, with some pleasant surprises and disappointing omissions. We hear from head coach John Herdman and the legend that is Atiba Hutchinson about the squad and the qualification road ahead on their Quest for Qatar.
We also sit down for a chat with Vancouver Whitecaps two Canadian international goalkeepers. First up is Maxime Crepeau to talk about recovering from his injury last season, the year ahead for the ‘Caps and Canada, and more. Then Thomas Hasal joins us to chat about more of the same.
Turning our attention to the U23s, we look back at their Olympic qualification journey so far and what lies ahead from Honduras, plus we hear from head coach Mauro Biello.
