Episode 438 – The AFTN Soccer Show (Comet Glacier Cats)

The latest AFTN Soccer Show is out for another show of Vancouver Whitecaps, MLS, and Canadian football chat.

We kick things off in Whitecapsland as we look at the big stories of the week as the team heads off to their new temporary home of Utah. Deiber Ceicedo has arrived into training camp, but it’s been down to the bare bones as the international players have to wait to meet up with the team in the States. We look at all of that, hear the thoughts of head coach Marc Dos Santos, and we take goalkeeper Max Crepeau on some football time travelling adventures.

After all the Whitecaps chat is done and dusted, we turn our attention to football on our TV screens here in Canada, and in particular the debate about national team games only being available on a streaming service. We look at the current television landscape in terms of soccer coverage in this country and debate whether it’s growing or hindering the growth of the game.

Plus we celebrate Macedonia’s shock win over Germany in this episode’s Wavelength and Blast Off Country Style kick off their residency on the podcast for the month of April.

Here’s the rundown for the main segments from the episode:

07.20: Whitecaps News of the Week – with audio from MDS
28.15: Football Time Travels with Max Crepeau
31.03: More Whitecaps chat
43.52: Football on our television screens in Canada – a debate
75.35: Wavelength – The Macedonians – Oh You Gianni Alioski
