Episode 473 – The AFTN Soccer Show (Turbulent Times)

The latest AFTN Soccer Show is out for another packed show of Vancouver Whitecaps, MLS, and Canadian football chat.

It’s been a turbulent few days in Whitecapsland. Thursday night’s Canadian Championship loss to Pacific FC was the catalyst that sparked the firing of head coach on Friday, and ended with an important MLS win against RSL on Sunday.

We delve into all of those things in this episode as we look back at the shambolic derby loss to Pacific and ponder what went wrong, chat about the subsequent firing of Marc Dos Santos as Whitecaps head coach and whether the timing was right, and cast a critical eye over the MDS era in Vancouver.

We also look at who else should shoulder some blame for the Whitecaps’ current state, talk about what might be next for the Dos Santos brothers, and look at some candidates to take over the helm in Vancouver.

Plus we chat about the new man in the hotseat in the interim, Vanni Sartini, and look at how his first match in charge produced a 4-1 victory over RSL.

Here’s the rundown for the main segments from the episode:
