Episode 477 – The AFTN Soccer Show (On The Rocks with special guest Florian Jungwirth)

The latest AFTN Soccer Show is out for another packed show of Vancouver Whitecaps and Canadian football chat.

As those around them pick up the wins, the room for error is getting ever smaller for the ‘Caps and while an away draw in Colorado is normally a good result, we’re getting to the have to start getting three points stage of the season.

We pick over the bones of that game, talk Whitecaps defence, and look at where the draw leaves the ‘Caps in the grand scheme of things in the Western Conference, plus as another MLS manager falls, we look at how urgent filling the Vancouver vacancy could become.

Our feature interview this episode is with one of the newest Whitecaps, German centreback Florian Jungwirth. We chat with Flo about his early days in football in Germany, his initial slow loving of the game, making the move to MLS, settling in to Vancouver, and about his work with his rescue dogs charity in Spain.

Plus Werd (SOS) continues as our Artist of the Month for September and London punk band Infa Riot are in Wavelength as Football Violence Awareness Month continues!

Here’s the rundown for the main segments from the episode:

02.35: Rapids v Whitecaps postgame analysis
40.40: Artist of the Month – Werd (SOS) ft Kirsty Innes – On The Rocks
45.28: Florian Jungwirth interview
