We’re back with another AFTN Soccer Show packed full of Vancouver Whitecaps, Major League Soccer, Vancouver FC, Canadian Premier League, and general football chat after what’s been a great week for the lower mainland clubs here in BC.
The Whitecaps bounced back from their disappointing home loss against LA to come away with a very confident and comfortably derby day victory in Seattle. We break down that match and the highs coming out of it for Vancouver and the lows for Seattle. We also hear some postgame thoughts from both head coaches, Vanni Sartini and Brian Schmetzer, look at the first team debut of Jay Herdman, as we talk to proud papa John Herdman about his son’s rise, and round-up the weekend’s action in the MLS West.
We’ve two feature interviews for you this week. First up is former Whitecap and new Vancouver FC defender Matteo Campagna, as we chat about his time with the ‘Caps in MLS and his new career path and challenge in the CPL. We also sit down with CPL commissioner Mark Noonan to chat about the successes, challenges, and the future of the league with its sixth season now underway.
Plus TSS Rovers are back in the Canadian Championship and we get the thoughts of TSS boss Brendan Teeling and Pacific coach James Merriman ahead of their Voyageurs Cup rematch next week. All of that and there’s still time for some old man shouting at the clouds chat about the FA Cup and VAR!
