VISL Round-up: Week 13 not unlucky for Cowichan FC or centurian Patrick Nelson

Week 13 has come and gone. All games were played, and there were a couple of key results that have obviously affected the standings in a big way.

Here’s some highlights from last weekend’s matches.

* Cowichan keeps their first place lead with an easier than expected win over Lakehill thanks to goals 98, 99, and 100 in Cowichan for Patrick Nelson.

* Nanaimo’s hunt for the Division 1 Garrison Cup took a huge blow as Bays upset the defending Jackson Cup Champions.

* Birthday boy Jordan French cooled off the Westcastle kids as Gorge kept pace with the other top two teams.

* Comox earned a valuable three points versus Vantreights which may seal the Greens spot in the relegation zone.

* Vic West sneaked by VI Wave with a late goal to avoid another dreadful draw.

Here are how all the games broke down:

Lakehill FC 1 (Paulo Dait)
Cowichan FC 3 (Patrick Nelson x 3)

Bays United 3 (Martin Gruber, Ian Whibley x 2)
Nanaimo United 2 (Daragh Fitzgerald x 2)

Gorge FC 3 (Colin McDonald, Jordan French x 2)
Westcastle United 1 (Jonathon Walter)

Vantreights 0
Comox Valley United 3 (Joe Butcher, Luke Phye, Liam Creek)

VI Wave 1 (Joshua Lamothe)
Vic West FC 2 (Matteo Ventura, Ryan McCurdy)

And here’s how all of those results leave the VISL Division 1 standings:

Nelson’s hat-trick sees him extend his lead at the top of the Golden Boot race, taking him to 16 goals. Nanaimo’s Fitzgerald sits two behind the Cowichan striker after his brace, with Lakehill’s Ryan Andre one goal further back.
