Episode 456 – The AFTN Soccer Show (International Rescue – Whitecaps make moves, Canada eye the octagon, the art of the football song with Neil Grant)

The latest AFTN Soccer Show is out for another packed show of Vancouver Whitecaps, Canadian national team, and general football chat.

Most of the world’s attention is on the international game this week between World Cup qualifiers and the Euros finally getting underway, and we’re no different as we look at Canada’s big win over Aruba and the qualifying path that awaits them this month.

But we also turn our attention to the domestic scene, as the Whitecaps make a new addition in striker Brian White, loan out forward David Egbo, and still haven’t acquired a number 10 to create the chances for the strikers to finish. With hopes of heading back to Canada soon, how tough a job is it going to be to market the team after 18 months without fans and mixed results on the pitch? Do enough people still care?

We also delve into the newly announced June start to the Canadian Premier League, discuss the art of writing football songs with singer/songwriter Neil Grant, get in the Euros spirit with his latest song, and Moscow Death Brigade kick off being our Artists of the Month.

Here’s the rundown for the main segments from the episode:

01.52: Intro and football cards
07.52: Whitecaps News of the Week – Brian White joins, David Egbo goes, and still no number 10
45.55: Canada v Aruba and World Cup qualifying chat
