Episode 457 – The AFTN Soccer Show (All The World Is A Stage – Euro 2020 preview and Canada’s World Cup qualifiers)

The latest AFTN Soccer Show is out for another packed show and this time it’s full of chat of an international flavour.

We’re talking World Cup qualifiers and the Euros this episode and we kick things off with a look at Canada’s win over Suriname and their upcoming two-legged tie with Haiti, as a place in the CONCACAF octagon beckons in the Quest for Qatar.

We hear the thoughts of Canada’s head coach John Herdman and he opens up to us about the pressure and mental health strains the pandemic and the weight of expectations have brought on him. Plus we chat to Vancouver Whitecap’s Canadian keeper Max Crepeau about having to watch these games away from the squad due to the birth of his first child.

The bulk of this episode though is dedicated to Euro 2020. We preview the tournament, make our picks for who will do well, who will disappoint, and who might surprise, and the all-important AFTN pool picks are sorted out. Plus we bring you another Scotland song for the tournament, this time by Pete Smith.

Here’s the rundown for the main segments from the episode:

02.05: Canada World Cup qualifying chat with audio from John Herdman and Max Crepeau
37.02: Euro 2020 Preview
92.48: Wavelength – Pete Smith – Allez
